Osteopathy is a form of manual medicine applying a hands-on approach to the treatment of the musculoskeletal system.
Established in 1998 by Dr Lisa Smyth, Barwon Osteopathic Clinic has provided treatment to patients of all ages, from infants to the elderly, for various problems affecting the muscles, joints and ligaments. A change of name to Barwon Osteopathy and Pilates in 2015 coincided with introducing a new modern Pilates studio at the clinic. However, the clinic provides the same quality individual osteopathic care it has built its reputation on for the previous 17 years.
Osteopathic treatment is hands-on. Each treatment lasts approximately 30-40 minutes and is one on one with the practitioner.
Techniques including soft tissue therapy, joint articulation, gentle joint mobilisation and cranial based osteopathy are used to free the body of restrictions, improve mobility, reduce pain and improve posture.
All of our osteopaths are registered with AHPRA, and osteopathic treatment can be claimed through your private health insurer if you have an appropriate ancillary cover.
With HICAPS located on-site, we can complete your claim at the clinic, so you only have to pay the out-of-pocket expense.
We also accept patients under DVA, WorkSafe, TAC and Chronic Health Treatment Plans (EPC).
